Yard Wellness Check
A clear starting point for thoughtful landscape change.
If you’re curious about native plants or making your yard healthier — but aren’t sure where to start — the Yard Wellness Check helps you understand what’s already working in your landscape and what small changes could make the biggest difference.
This service is for people who care about their outdoor space and the life it supports, but don’t want a major project or to guess their way forward. You don’t need a plan or plant list — just curiosity and a willingness to look at your landscape differently.
What the Yard Wellness Check is
The Yard Wellness Check is a 45-minute, on-site walkthrough of your yard. Together, we look at how your landscape is functioning today — so we can identify what’s working, where the biggest opportunities are, and which small changes will matter most.
This is not a design service. It’s a baseline and a decision-making tool.
-
After the visit, you’ll receive a concise, one-page summary that captures the most important takeaways from our time together.
This includes:
• Key observations about what’s working well
• Priority areas for improvement
• Guidance on what to focus on—and what to leave alone
• A clear recommendation for the next right step, for you and your yard
-
During the Yard Check, we assess how your landscape is supporting (or limiting) life today, and where thoughtful adjustments could improve function and resilience.
This may include:
• Existing plants and planting structure
• Habitat value for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife
• Soil, sun, and site conditions
• Lawn areas, edges, and underused space
• Current maintenance practices
• How your goals align with what your site can support
-
The Yard Check is intentionally focused.
It is not:
• A full landscape design
• A planting plan or CAD drawing
• An installation service
• A removal or demolition plan
• Hardscape, irrigation, or drainage design
Its purpose is clarity — not complexity.
What happens after the Yard Check
After the Yard Wellness Check, we’ll recommend one of three paths — based entirely on your space, goals, and existing landscape.
• Native Plant Combinations, if you have open or underused planting areas
• A Field Design Refresh, if your landscape is already established
• A referral to another professional, if your needs fall outside Wilder’s scope
There’s no default upsell — recommendations are based entirely on fit.
